Peaceful Resonance - Soothing Meditations with Modified African Harp and Modal Guitar
Peaceful Resonance is the culmination of over 9 years of playing music for hospice patients and their families. On this record, Rossi captures what happens in the music when it is focused to serve a medicinal purpose, relieving stress, tension, pain or anxiety.
For the first time, he as been able to have people in the recording studio with him, meditating, relaxing and/or falling asleep, while playing for them. The music is totally improvised with Rossi's attention fully on the person, sensing what they need and how he can help, with specific tones and harmonies of his instrument, to relax their mind so their body goes into a deeper state of stillness and rest.
Published as a single, Outside The Wall is Tom Rossi's official debut as a songwriter. Written back in 2005, the inspiration for the song initially came from time spent with a difficult hospice patient who could only find her sweet side if the music was playing.
As the second album for Inner Splendor Media, following Sweet Repose, Color Therapy combines relaxing sounds of the modified African kora (26-string West African harp), cello, piano, kalimba (South African thumb piano), guitars and ethereal vocals.
These four tracks are from a body of work Rossi composed back in 2003 for a sexy urban dance spectacle called POON, directed and choreographed by Jordana Che Toback.
Tom is currently in the studio producing the full album that will include the originals of these for remixes plus previously unreleased music from the complete POON soundtrack. Stay tuned, release TBA.
